Assistant Mechanic

About the role

The Assistant Mechanic will support the Golf Course Maintenance Department at Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, located just outside Fort Worth, TX. Working closely with the Equipment Manager, you will help keep all course equipment, utility vehicles, and machinery operating safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, small engines, and other turf equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine issues under supervision.
• Sharpen and adjust reels, bedknives, blades, and cutting units.
• Maintain accurate service records and parts inventory.
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Transport equipment to and from maintenance areas or course locations as needed.
• Assist with setup, cleanup, and special projects related to course operations.
• Perform select greenkeeper duties such as mowing, bunker maintenance, hand watering, debris cleanup, cup changing, and detail work.
• Support tournament and event preparation by ensuring equipment readiness and course presentation.

Required profile

• Basic mechanical knowledge of gas, diesel, and small‑engine equipment (preferred).
• Experience with golf‑course or landscaping equipment is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills.
