Assistant Managing Editor – Data Journalism

About the role

Law360, part of RELX, is looking for an Assistant Managing Editor to lead its data‑driven journalism team. In this hands‑on editorial leadership position you will mentor reporters and editors, shape story ideas, and ensure the highest standards of accuracy and storytelling across data‑focused series and investigative pieces.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data reporters, editors and research specialists, setting clear standards for reporting, writing and production.
• Oversee the editorial quality of data journalism, ensuring accuracy, clarity, fairness and narrative strength.
• Develop, pitch and guide data‑driven story ideas from concept through publication, collaborating with graphics and research staff.
• Coach reporters and editors to sharpen both data‑analysis and writing skills.
• Partner with survey and research specialists to verify sources, methodology and interpretation of statistical findings.
• Coordinate cross‑functional collaboration to meet publishing deadlines and maintain editorial integrity.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading editorial teams, preferably in data journalism or investigative reporting.
• Strong editorial judgment with a passion for turning complex datasets into compelling stories.
• Ability to mentor and develop talent, fostering both technical and storytelling skills.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
