Assistant Director – Texas Native Seeds

About the role

The Assistant Director of Texas Native Seeds (TNS) supports the leadership of the Coastal Prairies project, overseeing daily operations of research facilities, field sites, and demonstration plots across public and private lands. Based in Edna, Texas, the role collaborates closely with landowners, agencies, and stakeholders to advance seed conservation and restoration initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and nurture partnerships with federal, state, and private agencies, representing TNS at events and on national committees.
• Oversee budgeting, spending, and large‑scale purchases, including construction projects and equipment acquisition.
• Direct operations of TNS facilities, research plots, and greenhouse production, ensuring maintenance, scheduling, and compliance.
• Conduct field work such as equipment operation, herbicide application, and irrigation management.
• Prepare reports on infrastructure needs, field activities, and project progress for strategic planning.
• Serve as liaison for personnel, research activities, purchasing, and fundraising efforts.

Required profile

• Experience supervising agricultural or environmental research projects and managing multi‑site operations.
• Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with landowners, agencies, and community partners.
• Strong organizational skills for budget oversight, construction planning, and data reporting.
• Demonstrated leadership in coordinating staff, volunteers, and interdisciplinary teams.
