Assistant Director, Science, Technology & International Affairs

About the role
The Assistant Director will lead daily operations for the Science, Technology and International Affairs (STIA) program at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. This position ensures effective outreach, event coordination, budget oversight, and promotion of the program’s activities to internal and external audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day program operations and serve as the primary representative of STIA.
- Coordinate outreach, development initiatives, and high‑profile events.
- Oversee program budgeting, expense forecasting, and compliance with university financial policies.
- Supervise student employees and support staff.
- Develop and disseminate consistent messaging about STIA to the campus, Washington, D.C. community, and international partners.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree with 4‑5 years of experience in program administration, budget planning, and financial management.
- Supervisory experience is required; a Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., environmental studies, global health, security studies) is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operating budgets and ensure policy compliance.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, deadline orientation, and professional client service.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
