Assistant Director of Intercultural Life

About the role

Carleton College is seeking an Assistant Director for the Office of Intercultural Life (OIL) to support program coordination, office administration, and student engagement. The role works closely with the Director, Associate Director, and student staff to design, implement and assess initiatives that foster inclusion and belonging for students of color.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate campus‑wide programs that support students of color.
• Assist in planning community‑building activities and heritage month celebrations.
• Manage student employees and oversee daily office operations.
• Collaborate with faculty, deans, and college resources to promote academic success and retention.
• Interact directly with students, staff, and faculty to address intercultural life concerns.

Required profile

• Experience working in higher‑education program coordination or student affairs.
• Ability to manage student staff and coordinate events.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with diverse campus constituencies.

Required skills

What we offer

• Starting salary range $55,000 – $56,900 (prorated for part‑time schedule).
• Full‑time position with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
