Assistant Director, Facility Operations

About the role

The Texas A&M Semiconductor Institute is seeking an Assistant Director of Facility Operations to support the development and execution of operational systems for its semiconductor research laboratories. Reporting to the Director of Fabrication and Facility Operations, this senior operational resource will ensure safe, reliable, and efficient use of facility space, equipment, and support services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing operating systems for research labs, cleanrooms, process areas, and technical support spaces.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day facility operations, including user access, equipment scheduling, training workflows, supply readiness, and service coordination.
• Develop, maintain, and implement standard operating procedures, user guides, safety checklists, and equipment‑use documentation.
• Onboard new users, researchers, staff, students, vendors, and visitors to facility protocols.
• Track operational issues, manage preventive maintenance, and liaise with vendors and service providers.

Required profile

• Experience supporting daily operations of research or semiconductor facilities.
• Ability to work under the direction of the Director, Fabrication and Facility Operations.
• Strong organizational skills for coordinating users, equipment, and supplies.
