Assistant Designer – Special Projects

About the role

The Assistant Designer, Special Projects will work directly with the Design Director to develop innovative products, packaging and brand initiatives from concept through production. This position requires strong organization, creativity and the ability to manage several projects with global partners while meeting tight timelines and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Support multiple product development projects across various categories, handling both short‑lead and long‑lead timelines.
• Assist in the full design process, from concept creation to final production, including mood boards, presentations and design inspiration materials.
• Research and develop product, packaging, colour, material and branding concepts that meet project objectives.
• Prepare technical drawings, product specifications, bills of materials and development documentation.
• Communicate with suppliers, manufacturers and development partners throughout the development cycle.
• Support prototype development, sampling, testing and product refinements.
• Help create and review physical and digital 3D models and prototypes.
• Maintain project calendars, development trackers, sample inventories and reference materials.
• Collaborate with Design, Product Development, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, Sales and external partners to ensure successful execution.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in product, industrial or packaging design.
• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Product Development or a related field.
• Highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong creative mindset with attention to detail.
• Fluent English; additional languages such as Italian or Mandarin are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with 3D design software (e.g., Shapr3D, Blender, Autodesk products).
• Understanding of product development, packaging, prototype creation and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to produce presentations, mood boards, technical drawings and development documents.
