Assistant Dean of Finance & Administration

About the role

The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at Texas A&M University seeks an Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration to serve as the senior financial and administrative leader for the college. Reporting directly to the Dean and indirectly to the Associate Vice President for Academic Financial Strategy, the role ensures day‑to‑day financial, administrative, and business services align with strategic goals and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Direct the preparation, administration, and monitoring of annual and multi‑year operating and salary budgets.
• Provide long‑range financial planning, analysis, and resource allocation monitoring.
• Oversee financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
• Approve routine and complex financial transactions, including purchasing, vouchers, payroll, and personnel documents.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
• Prepare and submit recurring and special financial and administrative reports.
• Collaborate with college, departmental, and Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital leadership to develop standard processes and support operational improvements.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in higher‑education finance or large‑scale administrative finance.
• Proven ability to lead budgeting, financial analysis, and risk management initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of university, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Demonstrated leadership and collaborative skills across academic and clinical units.
