Assistant Controller

About the role

Rover is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Controller to support its accounting function within a fast‑growing, private‑equity‑backed technology company. Reporting to the Controller, you will help ensure accurate, timely, and scalable financial reporting while contributing to audit, technical accounting, and M&A activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Oversee key general‑ledger areas and drive automation and documentation improvements.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Manage internal and external reporting requirements for private‑equity stakeholders.
• Research, document, and implement technical accounting positions and new accounting standards.
• Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, coordinating audit schedules and deliverables.
• Assist M&A teams with due diligence, purchase accounting, and post‑acquisition integration.

Required profile

• Detail‑oriented professional with strong analytical abilities.
• Experience in accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit coordination.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment (two days onsite in downtown Seattle).
• Willingness to be based in the Greater Seattle area or relocate.

Required skills

• U.S. GAAP knowledge.
