Assistant Controller – Food & Beverage Finance

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to lead the accounting and financial control functions for the Food & Beverage division of a historic luxury hotel. Reporting to the Executive Director of Finance & Accounting, you will ensure accurate financial reporting, risk mitigation, and compliance with GAAP.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures documentation.
• Oversee outsourced accounting functions and design departmental structure.
• Manage accounting operations of subsidiary entities, ensuring robust control systems.
• Process timely payments for accounts payable and capture all applicable discounts.
• Accelerate collections for accounts receivable and execute payroll on schedule.
• Perform periodic bank reconciliations and ensure timely debt payments.
• Maintain chart of accounts, filing system, and internal transaction controls.
• Audit daily Food & Beverage revenue across all outlets, reconcile POS reports to the general ledger, and review voids, comps, discounts, and adjustments.
• Reconcile cashier reports, over/short logs, and credit‑card settlements, investigating discrepancies.
• Analyze variances between theoretical and actual cost of goods sold, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

Required profile

• Strong background in accounting or finance, preferably within hospitality or a similar high‑volume environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple accounting functions and lead a team.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
