Assistant Athletic Trainer

About the role

The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the health and performance of Georgetown University varsity athletes. Working under the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Health and Wellness, the role blends direct medical care with program administration.

Key responsibilities

• Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate acute and chronic orthopedic and medical conditions for at least two varsity teams.
• Assist in providing medical treatment to all student‑athletes and manage day‑to‑day operations of the Sports Medicine program.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of each athlete’s medical records.
• Adhere to Sports Medicine Policies, Procedures, and the NATA Code of Professional Conduct.
• Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Degree from a CAATE‑accredited Athletic Training Education Program.
• Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
• Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification at the Basic Life Support/Professional Rescuer level or higher.
• District of Columbia Athletic Trainer licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
• Experience in college athletics, preferably NCAA Division‑I.
• Ability to work confidently in crisis or emergency situations.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
