Assistant Academic Advisor for Student‑Athletes

About the role

The Assistant Academic Advisor supports student‑athletes at the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student‑Athletes (CCACSA). Working closely with the advising team, you will help develop academic plans, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with LSU, SEC and NCAA eligibility rules.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain accurate reports such as grade reports, study‑hall attendance and accountability logs.
• Manage a caseload of student‑athletes, coaching them in time‑management, organization and decision‑making.
• Assist with scheduling, monitoring and staffing of study‑hall sessions, including evenings and weekends.
• Communicate deadlines, reminders and eligibility information via Navigate, Teamworks, Retain, LSU email and other messaging tools.
• Develop individualized academic support plans and monitor eligibility standards.
• Support New Student Orientation, Summer Academic Success Program and onboarding of incoming athletes.
• Oversee a class‑monitoring program, training and delegating tasks to student workers.
• Participate in Tiger Life events, Guest Coach programming and CCACSA staff meetings.

Required profile

• Degree attainment (required for hourly rate determination).
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Commitment to uphold LSU, SEC and NCAA regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Navigate (student information system).
• Experience using Teamworks (athlete management platform).
• Familiarity with Retain communication tools.
