Assembly Technician – Cutter Assembly

About the role

The Assembly Technician – Cutter Assembly builds cutting tools used in horizontal directional drilling. Working in Inrock’s Houston manufacturing facility, the technician follows work instructions to fit and fasten cutter legs and cones, ensuring quality, traceability, and on‑time production.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble cutters by aligning and fastening legs and cones to specification.
• Use hand, power, and torque tools; read job travelers and drawings to verify fit and perform in‑process and final checks.
• Operate a bandsaw to cut material to length and verify cut quality.
• Operate forklift or other material‑handling equipment as needed (company certification provided).
• Complete travelers, work orders, and maintain quality records.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety and 5S procedures.
• Escalate non‑conforming parts and contribute to process improvements.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; mechanical assembly experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work travelers.
• Proficiency in English (reading and writing).
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift/move up to 50 lb and work in a shop environment.
• Capability to work independently and as part of a small team.
