Arms Expert – UN Sanctions Consultant

About the role

The United Nations is seeking an Arms Expert to join a four‑member Panel of Experts established under Security Council resolution 2745 (2024). The consultant will support the Panel in monitoring, investigating and reporting on sanctions related to the Central African Republic, reporting directly to the Sanctions Committee and the Security Council.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor sanctions measures and investigate alleged violations in the Central African Republic.
• Prepare investigative, mid‑term and final reports for the Panel and the Security Council.
• Compile information on individuals and entities potentially involved in sanctions breaches.
• Deliver briefings and presentations on the sanctions regime and Panel activities.
• Monitor traditional and social media for relevant developments.
• Contribute to recommendations for improved implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions.

Required profile

• Demonstrated substantive knowledge and experience in arms‑related sanctions and their implementation.
• Experience conducting investigations and preparing analytical reports.
• Ability to travel frequently on short notice, with travel in Economy Class as per UN guidelines.
• Strong analytical, writing and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with the political and security context of the Central African Republic is preferred.
