Area Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

About the role

The Area Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for a portfolio of heavy civil construction projects across the Western United States. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this senior position ensures safe, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery while upholding the company’s quality standards and client commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Executive oversight of multiple heavy civil projects from pre‑construction through final completion.
• Monitor project performance, financial results, staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Ensure projects meet safety, profitability, schedule, and contractual obligations.
• Oversee budgets, forecasts, cost controls, cash flow, and profitability.
• Support change‑order management, claims resolution, contract administration, and risk mitigation.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Project Engineers.
• Collaborate with estimating, engineering, field operations, and executive leadership to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven senior construction leader with experience managing multiple concurrent heavy civil projects.
• Strong track record of delivering projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and lead cross‑functional teams.
• Experience in workforce development, operational planning, and business growth initiatives.
