Architectural Designer – Boston

About the role

Jones Payne Group is seeking a motivated Architectural Designer to join its Boston studio. The role focuses on the adaptive reuse, rehabilitation, and modernization of existing buildings, offering exposure to all design and delivery phases and mentorship from senior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys and site investigations.
• Develop conceptual design solutions for existing structures.
• Create presentation materials and visualizations for clients and stakeholders.
• Prepare detailed construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Assist with construction administration and coordination on‑site.
• Collaborate closely with principals, project managers, designers, and other team members through regular meetings.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Architecture or a related discipline.
• 2–4 years of post‑graduate experience in architectural design.
• Strong interest in adaptive reuse, historic preservation, or working with existing buildings.
• Ability to travel across the United States for project durations ranging from one day to two weeks.
• Authorization to work in the United States and willingness to relocate to Boston if not already local.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam.
• Excellent design, visualization, and presentation abilities.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
• Attention to detail throughout design development to construction administration.
