About the role

The Architect position is based within the Office of the Chief Operating Officer at the Architect of the Capitol (AOC). The role supports the Tenant Projects Branch, providing professional architectural expertise for the design, construction, and improvement of federal office buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review architectural designs for House Office Buildings and related facilities.
• Coordinate structural, material, and environmental control system aspects of projects.
• Ensure compliance with federal building codes, standards, and sustainability requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, construction, and tenant services teams to deliver project objectives.
• Prepare technical documentation, drawings, and reports for senior leadership review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a related field with specified coursework, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of specialized experience in architectural design, construction methods, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated knowledge of architectural principles, structural technology, material properties, and environmental control systems.
• Ability to submit official transcripts and meet OPM qualification standards.
