APRN/PA PRN – Cardiac Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Cardiac Surgery team on a PRN (as‑needed) basis. The role supports cardiac surgical patients throughout the peri‑operative period, providing high‑quality clinical care in a fast‑paced academic medical center.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre‑operative assessment, intra‑operative assistance, and post‑operative management for cardiac surgery patients.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and prescribe medications within scope of practice.
• Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and follow‑up care.

Required profile

• Current licensure as an APRN or PA in the United States.
• Eligibility to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
• Experience in cardiac or cardiovascular care preferred.
• Commitment to the mission of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment and decision‑making in cardiac surgery settings.
• Ability to order, perform, and interpret cardiac diagnostic studies.
• Prescriptive authority within state regulations.
