Applied AI Engineer, Enterprise Tech

About the role

Anthropic is looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join its Enterprise Tech team in San Francisco. You will act as a technical product engineer, helping digital‑native businesses integrate the Claude API into their core products. The role blends deep engineering expertise with customer‑facing responsibilities to ensure safe, reliable, and high‑performing AI deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a specialist technical advisor to customers throughout discovery, pilot, and production phases.
• Partner with account executives and solutions architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Design and deliver customized pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites that influence architecture decisions.
• Lead hands‑on workshops, code reviews, and technical deep‑dives with customer engineering teams.
• Identify common design patterns and feed insights back to Anthropic’s product and engineering groups.
• Create public and internal documentation on the latest LLM prompting, evaluation, and agentic techniques.
• Stay current on LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product stacks.
• Travel occasionally for on‑site workshops and relationship building.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience in technical roles such as Forward‑Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer, or Technical Product Manager.
• Hands‑on production experience with large language models, including prompt engineering, agent development, and large‑scale deployment.
• Strong interest in working closely with customers and translating business needs into technical solutions.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
• Experience with LLMs, advanced prompt engineering, and agentic frameworks.
• Ability to build and run evaluation frameworks and deployment pipelines at scale.
