Applications Developer II

About the role

The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR) in South Carolina is seeking an Applications Developer II to enhance and maintain mission‑critical software systems. Key responsibilities

• Implement approved modifications to system functionality and user experience using standard analysis and design techniques.
• Migrate system changes in line with internal standards and change‑control procedures.
• Participate in code reviews for all deployed changes.
• Test, debug, and coordinate external testing of new or existing applications based on business logic and requirements.
• Design, develop, and maintain data‑driven applications using Microsoft .NET (C#) and responsive UI technologies.
• Create graphical user interfaces employing JavaScript, CSS, SASS, LESS, and graphic editing tools.
• Perform system maintenance, troubleshoot software service tickets, and monitor performance metrics.

Required profile

• High school diploma with relevant work experience, or an associate/bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Three years of experience in computer system development, modification, maintenance, or programming (or five years with a high school diploma).
• Strong knowledge of system analysis, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance practices.
• Ability to produce clear technical reports and collaborate effectively with users, vendors, and staff.

Required skills

• Microsoft .NET framework and C# language syntax.
• Object‑Oriented Programming concepts.
• SQL table and query design; experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• JavaScript and jQuery.
• HTML5, CSS3, SASS/LESS, and responsive design principles.
• Markup languages such as XML and HTML.
• Familiarity with graphical editing tools for UI design.
