About the role
The Application Developer II joins FIU’s System Support and Development Team to design, develop, and implement web‑based applications that enhance the online learning experience for faculty, staff, and external clients. This role collaborates closely with product owners, system administrators, and the Learning Management System team to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Define, design, and implement complex web applications using PHP, SQL, and JavaScript.
- Coordinate with product owners and operational teams to ensure applications are production‑ready and supported.
- Develop integrations with third‑party systems following industry standards.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance throughout the software development life cycle.
- Train the System Support and Development Team on new technologies and tools.
- Document project requirements, recommendations, and implementation details.
- Support system upgrades, maintenance, and backup procedures.
Required profile
- Experience developing web‑based applications in a higher‑education or similar environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
