Animal Care Technician

About the role

Clinvet South Dakota, a global veterinary CRO, is seeking an Animal Care Technician to oversee the health and daily care of livestock production animals used in preclinical and clinical studies. The role involves hands‑on animal husbandry, facility maintenance, and support for research activities.

Key responsibilities

• Observe and report changes in animal behavior, eating, drinking, and signs of disease.
• Provide basic husbandry such as feeding, watering, and restraining animals according to study protocols.
• Maintain clean and disinfected animal rooms, handle facility laundry, and organize supplies.
• Record and maintain animal health data and other study‑related information.
• Assist with specimen collection, medication administration, and preparation of special diets.
• Operate skid loaders, tractors, and drive livestock trailers as needed.

Required profile

• No prior experience required; relevant experience and education are a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift up to 50 lb regularly.
• Ability to stand, move, and work continuously for an eight‑hour shift.
• Must be sober and free from substances that could impair safety.

Required skills

• Operation of skid loader.
• Operation of tractor.
• Driving livestock trailers.
