Anesthesia Technician

About the role

The Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesiologists and anesthesia staff at Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus. Working primarily on weekends, the role involves preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment to ensure safe patient care during surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Stock anesthesia carts and surgical suites according to the par list.
• Assist with difficult airway management by providing required equipment.
• Deliver blood samples to the lab and retrieve blood products.
• Disassemble, decontaminate, sterilize, and assemble anesthesia equipment and supplies.
• Report equipment problems, perform preventive maintenance, and conduct routine cleaning.
• Perform Point‑of‑Care (POCT) testing after competency verification.
• Communicate with OR staff to prioritize daily assignments and minimize downtime between cases.
• Transport anesthesia equipment and supplies to and from operating rooms and off‑site locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, requisition supplies, and restock workrooms.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in a healthcare setting OR successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Willingness to work weekend days (5:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.) with on‑call, weekend, and holiday rotation requirements.
