Algorithm Developer – Computer Vision & Machine Learning

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Algorithm Developer to lead research, design, development, and implementation of algorithmic modules for semiconductor and display manufacturing. You will evaluate feasibility of image‑processing algorithms, conduct problem analysis, gather data, review literature, and select concepts for implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and develop computer‑vision and machine‑learning/deep‑learning algorithms for defect detection, classification, metrology, and image analysis.
• Prototype innovative algorithmic approaches based on detailed customer use cases.
• Collaborate with software, systems, and applications teams to productize algorithm solutions that meet defined specifications.
• Optimize algorithms to reduce computational cost and influence hardware requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the semiconductor industry.
• Strong background in computer vision, image processing, and deep learning technologies.
• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 4+ years experience, or Master’s with 7+ years experience.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication abilities.

• C/C++ programming.
• Python programming.
• TensorFlow or PyTorch frameworks.
• CUDA GPU programming and algorithm optimization.
• Computer vision and image‑processing techniques.
