Airport Firefighter

About the role

The Airport Firefighter is responsible for rapid response to fire and life‑safety emergencies across terminals, buildings and aircraft at IGI Airport. The role includes rescue operations, medical first aid, equipment upkeep and regular patrols to ensure the safety of passengers, staff and airport infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to fire incidents in aircraft, terminals and other airport facilities, guiding passengers to safety and providing first‑aid medical assistance.
• Maintain and test firefighting equipment, perform hydraulic testing, repainting and refilling of fire extinguishers, and ensure all gear is serviceable.
• Operate and maintain light‑weight utility and operational vehicles used for emergency response.
• Conduct routine patrols and inspections of terminals, fire‑protection systems and first‑aid equipment, updating checklists and reporting observations.
• Coordinate with airside operations, security, medical services and airline representatives during emergencies.

Required profile

• Minimum education: 10+2 with science subjects preferred.
• Physical fitness and ability to work in shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
• Willingness to comply with ARFF manual procedures and airport safety regulations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting) manual and SOPs.
• Hydraulic testing and fire‑extinguisher maintenance.
• Operation of light‑weight utility and emergency response vehicles.
