Aircraft Servicer-1 (Transient Alert)

About the role

Amentum is seeking an Aircraft Servicer/Transient Alert for Creech Air Force Base in Nevada. The role provides flight-line services to all transient and emergency aircraft landing and departing Creech AFB, including operating the airfield sweeper according to the Creech Airfield Sweeping Plan.

Key responsibilities

• Direct incoming and outgoing aircraft to assist pilots in maneuvering them on the ground, using hand signals, light signal devices and ground communication cords
• Secure aircraft in parking position with wheel chocks and tie-down equipment
• Replenish aircraft with fuel, oil, water, breathing oxygen and hydraulic fluids
• Perform end-of-runway inspections: de-arm and arm munitions and egress systems, remove and install landing gear safety pins, check flight controls and overall aircraft safety, drain fuel sumps to check for contamination, sample engines for oil contamination, and service tires to correct air pressure
• Respond to in-flight and ground emergencies, and remove disabled aircraft from the runway with towing equipment when necessary
• Position and remove boarding platforms, and operate ground support equipment such as power supplies, engine starting units and towing vehicles
• Use electronic task orders and publications, enter aircraft form entries, and perform daily sweeping of the airfield with a Tymco 600 street sweeper

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Formal technical training in the aircraft maintenance career field
• 2 to 4 years of prior military fighter aircraft maintenance experience
• Ability to qualify for and maintain a government Secret security clearance
• Valid state driver's license and ability to pass the color blindness test for a flight-line driver's license (AF Form 483)
• Operator certification for an aircraft towing vehicle and airfield sweeper (AF Form 2293)
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Willingness to work weekends and holidays, and possible shift work and occasional travel of 2-5 nights away
