Aircraft Mechanic II - Fuel Systems

About the role

Amentum is hiring an Aircraft Mechanic II specializing in fuel systems, based in the Back Shop (Fuel Shop). The mechanic inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls and modifies aircraft fuel systems, performs maintenance on equipment and works day, second, third and weekend shifts, including travel and TDY.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, overhaul and modify fuel systems
• Drain fuel from tanks and cells, perform purge operations, remove, reassemble and install components, and clean and inspect fuel cells
• Monitor the need for sealants and seals, and monitor bench stock, shop stock and Composite Tool Kits
• Perform on- and off-equipment maintenance using maintenance instructions and technical data
• Document discrepancies, input data into Maintenance Information Systems, order materials and supplies, and comply with safety, housekeeping, tool control and FOD prevention programs
• Work indoors and outdoors in all weather, lift objects up to 50 pounds occasionally, and travel including TDY

Required profile

• FAA Airframe certificate/license and ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance (US citizenship required)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a flightline driver's license
• Occupational physical, hazardous waste handling and disposal knowledge, and reading and interpreting data
• Preferred: fuel, oil, lubricant and chemical cleaner handling experience

Required skills

• Fuel systems maintenance procedures and specialized fuel systems courses
• Respirator training, confined space entry training and CPR training
• Effective verbal and written communication
