AI Engineer - Full Stack

About the role

Fortegra is looking for an Internal AI Forward Deployed Software Engineer who will stay ahead of emerging AI technologies, rapidly prototype proofs‑of‑concept, and guide internal teams on integrating AI solutions into their products and platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the AI landscape, including new models, frameworks, tools, and research across LLMs, multimodal AI, agentic systems, and orchestration platforms.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify high‑value AI opportunities, define use cases, and build prototypes that integrate with APIs, data pipelines, and internal platforms.
• Advise on AI solution selection, balancing accuracy, latency, scalability, security, and cost, and transition prototypes to production‑ready applications.
• Own end‑to‑end delivery of AI initiatives from ideation through deployment, monitoring, and iterative optimization.
• Validate AI‑driven processes continuously, ensuring accuracy, effectiveness, and trustworthiness.
• Identify reusable patterns and work with core engineering teams to improve maintainability, scalability, and operational resilience.
• Conduct workshops, demos, and knowledge‑sharing sessions to promote AI best practices across the organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Strong ability to operate flexibly across software engineering and data‑focused projects.
• Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts for diverse internal audiences.

Required skills

• Experience with large language models (LLMs).
• Knowledge of multimodal AI and agentic systems.
• Familiarity with AI orchestration platforms.
• Proficiency in building and integrating APIs and data pipelines.
