AI Data Scientist

About the role

As an AI Data Scientist at GDIT you will turn complex data into actionable insights that drive mission‑critical outcomes for our customers. You will work at the intersection of advanced AI research and production‑grade engineering, building tools that empower decision‑makers across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and large‑language‑model (LLM) pipelines that power virtual agents and knowledge systems.
• Create polished, user‑centric dashboards and analytics products using Power BI, Tableau or Looker.
• Architect scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines, handling diverse content such as HTML, PDFs and embedded images.
• Build responsive front‑end applications with Next.js and modern JavaScript frameworks, integrating authentication and AI workflows.
• Translate technical findings into clear presentations for leadership and collaborate with business partners to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering).
• 2+ years of relevant experience in AI/ML development; senior‑level experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• US citizenship not required.

Required skills

• Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) design, embeddings, vector databases, chunking and retrieval tuning.
• LLM integration, prompt engineering, function calling, conversational AI development.
• Advanced analytics dashboard creation (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and data‑modeling best practices.
• Front‑end development with Next.js, JavaScript, and strong UI/UX sensibility for data products.
• Data pipeline architecture, ingestion workflows, and parsing of HTML/PDF content.
