Agricultural Technician

About the role

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Agricultural Experiment Station is seeking a full‑time Agricultural Technician to support daily farm operations and research projects. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will work on campus farms, assisting researchers in plant and soil science studies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with field preparation, planting, cultivation, spraying, harvesting, and other farm tasks.
• Support multiple research projects by collecting and processing plant and soil samples.
• Maintain and repair farm equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Provide general assistance to the Farm Manager and research staff as needed.

Required profile

• A.S. or A.A. degree in a related field.
• State of Maryland Pesticide Public Agency Applicator Certificate and Nutrient Management Applicator Voucher, or ability to obtain both within six months.
• Strong commitment to research and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Ability to collect, process, and analyze agricultural samples.
• Proficiency in operating, troubleshooting, and repairing farm equipment.
