Agency CMO Trader

About the role

Barclays is hiring an Agency CMO Trader for its Markets business in New York, NY. The role leads trade execution and risk management across a defined portfolio of Agency MBS and related instruments, with a focus on Agency CMO structures, working closely with sales distribution and local and global trading management. The position is regulated by FINRA.

Key responsibilities

• Execute buy and sell orders or price liquidity in financial instruments in line with the bank's trading strategies and risk parameters.
• Monitor global financial markets, economic indicators, news and geopolitical events to spot trading opportunities and assess risks.
• Manage and monitor the risk of the trading portfolio and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal risk guidelines.
• Work with research analysts and other teams to gather insights for trading decisions.
• Generate Agency CMO trade ideas from market conditions, supply-demand dynamics, prepayment analysis and structural alpha.
• Deliver client solutions, manage new-issue risk and support Agency deal execution across pass-throughs, specified pools and CMOs.
• Provide active liquidity in primary and secondary markets within established risk parameters.
• Evaluate prepayment behavior and manage mortgage convexity risk using rates, MBS, volatility and hedging instruments in line with regulatory and internal guidelines.

Required profile

• Experience generating Agency CMO trade ideas and supporting Agency deal execution.
• Experience providing active liquidity in primary and secondary markets and managing mortgage convexity risk.
• Ability to interface with clients, research analysts and other teams.

The advertised salary range is $150,000 to $250,000 (base salary only).
