Advanced DOL Services Specialist

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking an Advanced DOL Services Specialist to work at the Cartersville Career Center. This position supports the state’s mission to provide unemployment services, conduct eligibility interviews, and help job seekers navigate the unemployment insurance system.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with unemployment applicants to gather information and determine eligibility.
• Provide job counseling, identify applicant skills and interests, and guide them toward employment opportunities.
• Conduct hearings, fact‑finding interviews, and resolve separation or availability issues within established time frames.
• Explain state law, departmental procedures, and the appeals process to claimants and employers.
• Process claims from the universal queue, assist customers in person or by phone, and submit related documents to the imaging system.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree plus one year of related experience, or high school diploma/GED plus three years of related experience.
• Minimum two years of claims‑processing experience or equivalent experience at the lower‑level Employment Services Specialist level.
• Strong knowledge of Georgia unemployment law and departmental procedures.
