Adult ESL Instructor

About the role

The International Rescue Committee seeks a dedicated Adult ESL Instructor to join its Adult Education Program. You will help newly arrived refugees and immigrants acquire the English language skills needed for everyday life and job readiness in the United States.

Key responsibilities

• Teach three part‑time ESL classes to adult learners each week.
• Develop and deliver lesson plans that focus on practical communication and employment‑related language.
• Assess student progress, provide feedback, and adjust instruction as needed.
• Maintain attendance records and classroom materials.
• Collaborate with program staff to support learners’ integration and success.

Required profile

• Experience teaching English as a Second Language to adult learners.
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and multicultural classroom environments.
• Ability to work flexible part‑time hours (approximately 24 hours per week).
• Fluency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
