Adult Education Special Instructor

About the role

The University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College is seeking an Adult Education Special Instructor to deliver classroom instruction and support services for adult learners pursuing GED and basic education credentials. The role involves direct teaching, assessment, and individualized planning to help students achieve academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with fellow instructors and office staff to enroll students and address concerns.
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group instruction for adult learners.
• Conduct classroom orientations covering rules, expectations, and learning objectives.
• Administer and score the Tests of Adult Basic Education (TABE) to determine student levels and needs.
• Administer GED practice tests to assess readiness for the official GED examination.
• Assign coursework using appropriate curriculum materials and provide accommodations for students with special needs.
• Maintain classroom discipline and create an effective learning environment.
• Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans in collaboration with staff.

Required profile

• Current employee of the University of Arkansas System (including student employees and graduate assistants) may apply.
• Ability to work onsite at the North Little Rock campus.
• Commitment to adult education and student success.
