ADU Technician/Mechanic – Contract (Mobile, AL)

About the role

Airbus is seeking a Contract ADU Technician/Mechanic to support the Automatic Drilling Unit (ADU) shop at its U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama. The role involves setting up, qualifying, maintaining and adjusting ADU equipment, cutting tools and drilling templates to ensure smooth production on the Final Assembly Line.

Key responsibilities

• Set‑up and implement ADU equipment in the shop based on best practices from existing A320‑Family lines.
• Oversee qualification of ADUs and support their entry into service at supplier sites.
• Adjust ADUs, cutting tools and drilling templates as required.
• Perform ongoing maintenance and repair of ADUs and related test equipment.
• Provide limited instruction and oversight to employees using the equipment for the first time.
• Assist the Head of Back Shops and Head of Station 40 in technical problem solving.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years hands‑on experience maintaining ADUs, drilling templates, cutting tools or test equipment.
• Preferred 5 + years of relevant experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read technical material on computer screens.
