Admission Nurse - Full-time RN

About the role

Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking a full‑time Admission Registered Nurse to join its behavioral health team. The role focuses on managing patient admissions and discharges efficiently while ensuring high‑quality continuity of care in a 171‑bed psychiatric facility.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and document comprehensive initial nursing assessments and admission summaries.
• Identify and record priority mental and medical problems, including detoxification needs.
• Verify medication orders and laboratory requisitions in both physical charts and the electronic health record.
• Obtain additional admission orders from physicians and document them accurately.
• Contribute to the multidisciplinary treatment plan by outlining problems, objectives, goals, and interventions.
• Collaborate with unit staff to perform patient searches and inventory of clothing and valuables.
• Participate in rapid responses and emergency codes to ensure patient safety.
• Adjust assignments flexibly, oversee outside visitation hours, and support unit staff as needed.
• Provide guidance to LVNs and perform additional duties assigned by nursing leadership.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience as an RN in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
• Current and valid RN license; driver’s license preferred.
• CPR certification and successful completion of hospital‑approved physical and behavioral management training.
