Administrative Assistant 2 – Retail Food Safety Division

About the role

The Georgia Department of Agriculture’s Retail Food Program is seeking an Administrative Assistant 2 to provide essential office support to the Program Manager. Based at the department’s headquarters in Atlanta, this role ensures smooth daily operations for a program that inspects grocery stores, bakeries, seafood markets, and other retail food establishments across the state.

Key responsibilities

• Answer phone calls and respond to emails from regulated retail food establishments.
• Process license applications and supporting documents in line with program regulations.
• Scan, upload, and maintain digital records, including monthly mileage reports.
• Manage all administrative tasks for the Egg Candling Program, such as maintaining the SharePoint site, building rosters, sending registration confirmations, distributing resource documents, and handling certification paperwork.
• Support the Cottage Food Identifier Number program and other related administrative activities.
