Adjunct Instructor – Culinary Arts (Endowment-supported)

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach Culinary Arts at Southern Crescent Technical College. This endowment‑supported position involves delivering both lecture and lab instruction, guiding students through real‑world foodservice experiences, and supporting program events.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Culinary Arts courses in line with SCTC and state standards.
• Develop and deliver lecture and hands‑on lab sessions covering food preparation, sanitation, and culinary techniques.
• Assist with the annual Culinary Arts Food and Wine Pairing fundraiser and other special events.
• Supervise students in a commercial kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
• Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and student recruitment/retention initiatives.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and college service activities.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Culinary Arts or related field with at least 30 credit hours of culinary coursework.
• ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (or ability to obtain within six months).
• Minimum three years of full‑time experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant, hotel, or foodservice setting.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, ServSafe Examination Proctor certification, supervisory experience (e.g., Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager), and three years of postsecondary teaching experience.
