Adjunct Instructor – Approaching the Arts (Prison Education)

About the role

Saint Louis University is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to teach ARTH 1000: Approaching the Arts to incarcerated students at the ERDCC facility in Bonne Terre, MO. This part‑time position involves delivering a semester‑long arts curriculum and supporting the Prison Education Program’s mission of providing high‑quality higher education to prisoners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver weekly lectures, discussions, and assignments for ARTH 1000.
• Assess student work and provide constructive feedback.
• Coordinate with program staff to align course content with correctional education standards.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance and grades.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development activities as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate arts courses.
• Experience or willingness to work in a correctional education environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
