Adjunct Faculty English Lecturer

About the role

The Department of English, Languages and Media Studies at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore is hiring adjunct faculty for the Fall 2026 semester. Instructors will teach on‑campus courses in composition, speech, and technical writing, with occasional opportunities for online delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Teach Composition 101 and 102, Technical Writing, and Speech courses.
• Develop and deliver course materials that reflect the mission of an HBCU and promote inclusivity.
• Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with department faculty to maintain standardized syllabi.
• Potentially teach courses in literature, digital humanities, English education, or digital media as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credits in English or a related discipline (or a BA with 5+ years professional experience for production‑oriented courses).
• Minimum one year of college‑level teaching experience as Instructor of Record.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in higher education.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas and Blackboard.
• Ability to integrate technology to enhance classroom learning.
