Adjunct Faculty - Chemistry

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking two part‑time Adjunct Faculty members to teach Chemistry. This non‑benefited, FLSA‑exempt position reports to the Dean of Education and offers a lump‑sum payment based on contact hours taught. The role involves delivering lecture and laboratory content in both face‑to‑face and hybrid formats.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for assigned Chemistry courses (35%).
• Develop program outlines, goals, and objectives (10%).
• Evaluate student progress and provide feedback (20%).
• Request and maintain necessary supplies and equipment for labs (1%).
• Stay current with trends in chemistry education through professional development (4%).
• Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training areas (10%).
• Meet with students, staff, and fellow educators to discuss instructional programs (1%).
• Demonstrate high effort, trustworthiness, and adherence to departmental policies (14%).
• Perform additional duties as needed to support the department’s mission.

Required profile

• Doctorate or Master’s degree in Chemistry (or related discipline) OR a Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline.
• Preferred: relevant certificates, post‑secondary teaching experience, and a record of curriculum development.
• Ability to follow direction, accept feedback, and complete annual Hazardous Materials Training.
