Activity Therapist – Milledgeville, Central State Hospital

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Activity Therapist to join Central State Hospital in Milledgeville. Working under supervision, you will help design and deliver therapeutic recreation programs that enhance the well‑being of patients.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate therapeutic recreation activities such as sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social events, and arts & crafts.
• Conduct assessments of clients' conditions and recommend appropriate recreational interventions.
• Facilitate group and individual sessions, ensuring safety and therapeutic value.
• Document activity outcomes and communicate progress to the supervising team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum two (2) years of job‑related therapeutic recreation or related experience.
• Ability to work under supervision and follow established protocols.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation, art therapy, music therapy, horticulture therapy, or a related field.
