About the role
The Acquisitions Librarian leads all resource acquisition activities for LSU Libraries, overseeing the procurement and processing of print and electronic materials. This faculty position collaborates closely with collection development, budgeting, and discovery teams to ensure efficient and strategic acquisition of library resources.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate ordering, receiving, and invoicing of print and electronic resources, including monographs, serials, databases, and streaming media.
- Ensure compliance with LSU and state procurement policies and maintain accurate records in the library management system.
- Collaborate with Administrative Services to monitor fund balances, review expenditures, and track budget allocations.
- Serve as liaison with vendors, publishers, and subscription agents to facilitate purchasing and resolve billing issues.
- Supervise unit staff, providing training and professional development support.
- Evaluate and improve acquisition workflows, incorporating new services and technologies.
- Develop and maintain relationships with booksellers, subscription agents, and content providers.
- Prepare statistical and financial reports for library leadership.
