Accounting Manager

About the role

The Asian Law Caucus (ALC) is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its day‑to‑day accounting operations, monthly close, grant and fund accounting, and financial reporting. Reporting to the Director of Finance, this hybrid role based in San Francisco will coordinate with external accounting partners and ensure compliance with nonprofit standards.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close with the Director of Finance and external accounting partners.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial records for accuracy and completeness.
• Monitor accounting transactions to ensure proper coding by fund, grant, program, and account.
• Oversee the work of the external bookkeeping team and ensure timely completion of accounting deliverables.
• Maintain the chart of accounts, accounting records, and supporting documentation.
• Other relevant duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Experience overseeing accounting operations in a nonprofit or similar environment.
• Knowledge of grant and fund accounting, internal controls, and audit preparation.
• Ability to ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies.
