Accounting Director

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an experienced Accounting Director to lead the financial operations of a technical college. This senior position oversees accounting policies, financial reporting, and budget management while ensuring compliance with GAAP and governmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage a comprehensive accounting program that integrates GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and impacts on the college’s fiscal position.
• Supervise accounting staff and evaluate performance.
• Review general ledger accounts for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and direct the preparation of standard and specialized financial reports.
• Identify and correct discrepancies in financial records.
• Represent the college in interactions with banks, vendors, auditors, and external customers.
• Maintain effective internal controls and ensure policy adherence.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, and statutory regulations.
• Experience supervising accounting personnel and managing budgets.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and produce clear reports.
• Excellent attention to detail and integrity in financial operations.
