Accountant (Real Estate Experience)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join its fast‑growing back‑office team. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, supporting multiple high‑growth clients with accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting with audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to enhance accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, with proven real‑estate industry exposure.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Fluent English (B2+), comfortable communicating with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to work independently as a contractor, available 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
• Growth‑mindset and adaptability in a fast‑paced environment.
