Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to join our long‑standing client’s finance team. The role focuses on preparing and managing owner billings, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements, and supporting project teams to achieve timely payments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate owner billings in line with contractual terms.
• Process job costs correctly and maintain internal control standards.
• Identify and communicate potential financial risks proactively.
• Build and maintain relationships with third‑party subcontractors.
• Partner with project management to support client service and timely payment.
• Manage projects with complex contractual requirements, including certified payroll reporting, diversity and inclusion participation, prevailing wage, and TIF compliance.
• Prepare cost‑plus, cost‑plus GMP, and lump‑sum billings.
• Ensure all allowable costs are billed accurately and on time.
• Track and manage subcontractor lien waivers.
• Coordinate the billing process with project teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Required profile

• Experience in accounting for construction or project‑based environments.
• Familiarity with certified payroll, prevailing wage, and TIF compliance.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple billing cycles.
