Accountant – Financial Accounting (Boston)

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Boston is seeking an Accountant to support its Accounting Department. The role is on‑site in Boston and involves a variety of accounting assignments under general supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with the Federal Reserve’s Financial Accounting Manual and related policies for designated accounts.
• Prepare, analyze and record accounting entries for accruals, asset management, benefits, expenses, AP/AR, tenant billings and procure‑to‑pay processes.
• Reconcile general‑ledger accounts daily and perform balancing to maintain accurate records.
• Analyze and reconcile data from Workday and the in‑house EASy system.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules and assist with year‑end and financial‑statement preparation.
• Interact with stakeholders on accounting, compliance and troubleshooting issues.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and data.
• Assist departments with P2P cycle guidance and application usage.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with an accounting or finance concentration.
• At least 2 years of accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder focus and collaborative teamwork.
