About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking an Accountant 2 to join its finance team. Working under the Accounting Manager, you will ensure accurate financial reporting and support the agency’s fiscal operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and record recurring and non‑recurring journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, allocations, and corrections.
• Verify source documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper approval.
• Apply the State of Georgia chart of accounts and Workday Financials tags to assign transactions to the correct fund, cost center, program, grant, or project.
• Maintain a detailed journal entry log and supporting documentation for audit trails.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, general ledger reconciliation, and audit readiness.
• Provide secondary support for accounts receivable and revenue, and tertiary support for cash management and bank reconciliation.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision of the Accounting Manager.
• Follows GAAP, Governmental Accounting Standards, State of Georgia requirements, and federal guidelines.
• Demonstrates attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
