Accountant 2 – Full‑Time Finance Role

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth Facilities Operations and Planning division is seeking a full‑time Accountant 2 to support financial management at the UHealth Medical Campus. You will oversee internal accounting, reporting, and budgeting functions for the department.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
• Analyze trends, costs, revenues, and financial commitments to forecast future performance.
• Report departmental finances to management and recommend resource‑utilization strategies.
• Verify journal vouchers, reconcile expenditure and revenue accounts, and approve reimbursements, check requisitions, and purchase orders.
• Assist with fiscal year‑end processes, including accrual entries.
• Process departmental invoices, obtain manager approvals, and ensure purchase orders are valid before submission to Accounts Payable.
• Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to maintain current invoice status.
• Utilize the university’s Workday ERP system to create and close purchase orders.

Required profile

• Experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting within a large organization.
• Strong understanding of university or public‑sector financial policies.
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.
